On 20 September 2005, a round table on “Safety of children on the Internet” was organized jointly by the Russian Committee for UNESCO's Information for All Programme (IFAP) and Microsoft Corporation Russia and CIS branch. Round table was supported by the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

International Conference “UNESCO between two Phases of the World Summit on the Information Society” was held on May 17-19, 2005 in Saint-Petersburg (Russian Federation) under the auspices of UNESCO. The Conference was organized with a view to clarify the next steps and key decisions of UNESCO with regard to the building of the global information society. One of the main objects set by the conference was drafting recommendations for determining UNESCO`s position on further implementation of provisions of the main documents adopted at the World Summit on the Information Society.

UNESCO's collaboration with the Russian Federation is also channelled through the Information for All Programme. The Russian Federation is a member of the Programme's Intergovernmental Council and there is an active National IFAP Committee under the chairmanship of Mr Evgeny Kuzmin. In June of this year, the committee organized a conference on UNESCO's Information for All Programme on the theme of "universal access to information". By all accounts, it was a useful and productive meeting.

The theme of the UNESCO sponsored Conference is "Information for all: Culture and Information Society Technologies".

The Ninth International Conference "Crimea 2002": "Libraries and Associations in the Transient World. New Technologies and New Forms of Cooperation" took place on June 08-16, 2002, in Sudak, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Ukraine. In 2002 the topic of the conference was “Electronic Resources and Social Role of Libraries in the Future". The Russian Committee for the UNESCO Information for All Programme held a workshop on the UNESCO IFAP during the conference.
