IFAP Council to discuss future orientations
The Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP) will meet for its 5th Session from 2 to 4 April 2008 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. The Council will discuss new strategic orientations of the Programme for the period 2008-2013 and host a thematic debate on “IFAP's Role in the Global Information Space”, on 3 April.

UNESCO launches IFAP Success Stories platform
UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP) wishes to encourage communities using information for development to share their success stories. It therefore invites all organizations to submit their success stories to the online platform where others can learn from them and either replicate or adapt them to their own local situations. A project funding support of US$5,000 will be granted to up to five of the most innovative success stories, one in each UNESCO’s region.

The 8th International Conference EVA 2005 Moscow was held November 28 – December 2, 2005 in Moscow, Russian Federation. This year the conference’s theme was ‘Information for All: Culture and Information Society Technologies’. The main organizers of the conference are European Commission, Federal Agency on Culture and Cinematography, Centre on the Problems of Informatisation in the sphere of Culture, All-Russia State Library of Foreign Literature and EVA Conferences International. The conference is supported by the UNESCO IFAP Russian Committee, Russian Branch of ICOMOS, Moscow Committee on Cultural heritage, Russian State Art Library and the number of companies, including Activision and Xerox.

Legal Information Center opened in Moscow under IFAP’s aegis
A Legal Information Center opened on 7 October at the Association of Indigenous People of the North of the Russian Federation in Moscow, under the aegis of the National Committee of Russia of UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP). One of the main objectives of the Center is its sustainability, and this is substantially determined by effective cooperation between federal and regional authorities, municipalities libraries, the media, the private sector and NGOs.
