12.11.2010 | UNESCO convened expert meeting on media and information literacy indicators
UNESCO organized an expert group meeting on the development of a global framework of indicators to measure media and information literacy (MIL) from 4 to 6 November 2010 in Bangkok, Thailand. The event brought together experts from all regions (representing 17 countries) and from a wide range of domains including: media, information, education, curriculum development, psychometrics and statistics.
15.12.2009 | Russia hosts first consultation meeting of IFAP national committees
A meeting of national committees of the UNESCO Information for All Programme was held in Moscow on December 7–8. A first-ever meeting of the kind, it was great success. The meeting was organized by the Intergovernmental Council for IFAP, the UNESCO Secretariat, the Russian IFAP Committee and its working body – the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre of – with support of the Commission for UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The First Consultation Meeting of National Committees for UNESCO’s Information for All Programme (IFAP) will take place on 7 and 8 December 2009 in Moscow, Russia. This meeting is jointly organized by the IFAP Intergovernmental Council, the UNESCO Secretariat, the Russian IFAP Committee and its working body - the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre. It is officially sponsored by the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO and the Russian Ministry of Culture.

The Information for All Programme of UNESCO (IFAP) was established by UNESCO to provide a framework for international co-operation and partnerships in "building an information society for all". IFAP's focus is on ensuring that all people have access to information they can use to enhance their lives. UNESCO has assumed the task of assisting Member States in the formulation of national information policy frameworks, in particular within the framework of the Information for All Programme (IFAP).

The third, and final, booklet of UNESCO series “ICT Competency Standards for Teachers” has been translated into Russian and published by the Russian IFAP Committee and its working body, the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre, with support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The booklet makes recommendations for curricula in training teachers in the sphere of information and communication technologies.
