New official website of the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme

The new version of the website of the UNESCO Information for All Program (IFAP) Russian Committee is launched now (http://www.ifapcom.ru). This Internet-resource is aimed to become a useful tool for the Russian IFAP Committee’s activities.

Content of the website is developed rather actively. Russian-language information concerning objectives, activity, structure and history of the UNESCO IFAP in general, as well as informational materials about its Russian Committee, regularly updated news, projects, documents and publications are available on-line. The website contains some interactive services, such as FAQ and subscription to the Committee’s news. Visitors can navigate with ease thanks to the user-friendly website design.

The UNESCO IFAP Russian Committee mediates between Russia and the IFAP Intergovernmental Council. The Russian Committee participates in formation of a national policy of the Russian Federation in the field of building of the global information society and the knowledge societies; carries out an information exchange and builds partner relations with the international and national structures of other countries. The Committee distributes Russian-language information on global tendencies and the UNESCO policy in this area.

The Russian IFAP Committee is one of 52 IFAP National Committees which provide a focus at the country level as well as an opportunity to interpret and mobilize the IFAP vision for local communities.
 
The Russian Committee has been created in 2000 by decision of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO. Its structure includes representatives of government bodies, education, science, culture and communication institutions, NGOs and commercial structures. Since 2007 the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre, a non-profit organization, serves as a Committee-dominated labour body of the Russian IFAP Committee.
