International Conference "Personal Information Culture: Information Society Challenges"

The International Conference "Personal Information Culture: Information Society Challenges" took place in Moscow, Russian Federation, November 2 - 3, 2006. The aim of the interdisciplinary conference is to discuss the issues of personal information culture in dynamic, rapidly changing world of global information society.
Observation and research on information literacy and personal information culture, made in Russia within UNESCO IFAP implementation, brought noteworthy results and important conclusions on the ways and means to enhance human potential in the information society. Methods of forming integral personal information culture have been elaborated and tested in educational establishments and libraries of the Kemerovo Region, Siberea. Prerequisites have been made for more extensive use of those methods in the educational routine in Russia and other UNESCO member-states. Those achievements were repeatedly announced in and outside Russia to always arouse great interest. Major results have been obtained and considerable practical experience stored.
