The 7th conference, Corporate Library Systems: Technologies and Innovations, has been held with support of the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre

The 7th research and practical conference, Corporate Library Systems: Technologies and Innovations, was held on June 14-19, 2009. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the St Petersburg State Polytechnic University, and ARBICON (non-profit partnership Association of Regional Library Consortiums). The Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre were its co-organizers.
 
The conference was held on board the “Kronstadt” boat, which followed the route St Petersburg—Valaam Island—Svirstroi—Kizhi—Petrozavodsk—Mandrogi—St Petersburg.
 
The conference aimed to enhance librarians’ skills in the improvement of library information services through corporate technologies. The conference heard more than 50 reports. There was a roundtable on The Anti-Crisis Strategy of Library Survival: The Role of the Professional Press in the Organization of Effective Communication, and an exhibition of professional publications.
 
Sergei Bakeikin, Managing Director of the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre, represented the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre at the conference, and led the special seminar, The Strategic Plan of the UNESCO Information for All Programme for 2008-2013. The seminar presented IFAP priorities—information for development, information competence, information storage, information ethics, and access to information. Mr Bakeikin also told about joint projects of Russian IFAP Committee and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre.
 
All participants received editions of the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme. On the closing day, the St Petersburg State Polytechnic University hosted an exhibition of publications of the Committee and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre, which aroused general interest.
