The Khanty-Mansiysk Declaration “Media and Information Literacy for Building a Culture of Open Government” published online

The work on the outcome document of the International conference on Media and Information Literacy for Building a Culture of Open Government (Khanty-Mansiysk, Russian Federation, 6–10 June 2016) is finished.

We are glad to publish the final text of the document, named The Khanty-Mansiysk Declaration “Media and Information Literacy for Building a Culture of Open Government in Russian and English.

The first-ever global forum on this topic in Khanty-Mansiysk gathered academics, politicians, diplomats, journalists, governmental officials, civil society activists and private entrepreneurs from 45 countries.

 

The conference has become the third major international event organized by the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme, and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre within the framework of UNESCO and Russia’s collaborative work in the field of communication and information. The present conference was preceded by two world expert meetings on the preservation of languages and promotion of linguistic diversity in cyberspace (Paris, France, 2014, and Khanty-Mansiysk, Russian Federation, 2015).
