The Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre at the international conference Crimea 2009

The 16th annual international conference Crimea 2009 took place in Sudak on June 6-14, with active participation of the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre, its working body.
 
Evgeny Kuzmin, Chair of the Russian Committee of the UNESCO Information for All Programme, President of the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre, and head of the conference Programme Committee, read the Committee’s and the UNESCO Moscow Office’s greeting to the conference during its opening ceremony, and a plenary paper on Preserving Language and Cultural Diversity: Reviewing the Results of the UN International Year of Languages.
 
The Russian IFAP Committee introduced the IFAP Strategic Plan 2008-2013 and Programme's priorities to the section, The Information Society, the World Information Infrastructure, National Information Resources, National Libraries and International Cooperation Projects.
 
Invited by the Russian IFAP Committee, Syb Groenefeld, Project Coordinator Russian Federation for Creative Commons International, spoke to the section, Public Access to Legal and Business Information: Problems of Copyright, Library Intellectual and Material Property Protection, on designing a strategy to resolve the paradox of open access and copyright law for libraries in Russia.
 
The Interregional Library Cooperation Centre and the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications organized the Special Workshop: Reading in Global Information Society, after which Mr Kuzmin passed editions of the Russian IFAP Committee and the Interregional Centre to the National Parliamentary Library of Ukraine as a gift.
